When India’s greatest poet, Rabindranath Tagore, visited Japan, the Japanese showed him tremendous respect and love. On one occasion, he was drinking tea with them. Everyone was using cups, but Tagore was inspired to pour a little bit of tea into the saucer. Then he started drinking from the saucer.
His Japanese friends who were seated at the same table also started drinking tea in Tagore’s way. Then one of them asked Tagore,
“Sir, why do you drink like this?”
Tagore replied, “This is our traditional Indian way. But why do you have to follow my way?”
They answered, “Because you are so great.”
